Field Systems Engineer


Questar Field Systems Engineer will support both Clients on site and the Apple Valley Call Center. The key areas of focus will be preparation and support for our testing platform both onsite and remotely. In addition we will partner with internal teams and provide IT support when needed.  Field Systems Engineer will be deployed up to 5O% of the time across the United States to assist and consult with our clients to prepare facilities for online testing.

Systems Engineer (computer networking/IT) will be responsible for:

  • Analyzing of computer networks.  
  • Systems Engineer will research, design, implement and troubleshoot information systems and  technology solutions in support of the business need and to insure client readiness.
  • Field Systems Engineer will provide advice to clients regarding the appropriate hardware and/or software to ensure that their computer systems meet their needs.
  • May also be involved in a hands-on manner during the acquisition, installation, testing, and implementation phases of the project .
  • Evaluates current systems for effectiveness, makes recommendations regarding the scalability of such systems, and troubleshoots any problems that arise during the use of the system.
  • Conducts Help Desk support over the phone through chat services or via remote desktop support applications as well as in person; other responsibilities involve but are not limited to : specification, documentation ,testing of computer systems, computer network connectivity, printer setup and repairs, audio/visual equipment, recommends hardware and software acquisitions and upgrades.
  • Work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative and judgment.
  • Travel to customer locations across the United States to diagnose and analyze network.
  • Check computer hardware (PC, MAC, Tablet, Thin Client) for requirements and proper installations of secured browser.
  • Will provide technical support during workshops across the states.
  • Administering and managing various user accounts involving web conferencing tools, Microsoft software products, Instant messaging, email clients, web browsers, Adobe cloud product just to name a few, while ensuring the appropriate levels of security are maintained while enabling users to complete their work efficiently and effectively .
  • Support software for installation on computers .
  • Applying business/technical support concepts to analyze application problems and resolve complex issues that may have strategic impact.
  • Support and maintain virtual testing environments.
  • Setup, configure and install virtual networks to support installation of various virtual machines involving MS Windows, Mac, and Linux based systems.
  • Respond professionally to client inquiries in person and via telephone concerning systems operation and network functionality.
  • Diagnose system hardware, software and operator issues.
  • Recommend and/or perform remedial actions to provide resolutions.
  • Coordinate action plans and collaborate with technical support when appropriate.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 5 years' experience in technical consultation or related profession in customer support.< >science, engineering or technology .
  • Excellent interpersonal skills-position requires facilitating active working sessions with senior IT management, C-Suite executives and other senior business leaders.
  • Knowledge and support of Microsoft applications, experience and/or education in applying systems analyses and engineering theories, principles, methods, concepts, models, tools, and technologies to enhance the quality, effectiveness, and execution are key attributes for this position.
  • Systems Engineer must be proficient with information technology.
  • Strong I/IS background in technologies such as: Web technologies {liS, ASP, ADO, XML,
  • Web Services).
  • Demonstrated ability in areas of conflict resolution, negotiation and mediation.
  • Excellent written communication skills are required.
  • Basic knowledge of network environments, including network software deployment.
  • Ability to thrive in an overnight travel mode up to 50% of the time.
  • Valid drivers license required.
  • Familiarity using a Ticketing system (Salesforce  preferred).
  • Documenting processes.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and HTML.
  • Network Systems, including Firewalls, Content Filters.
  • Experience using remote-access applications (TeamViewer preferred).
  • Familiarity with different browser configurations.
  • Familiarity with different operating system configurations.

Certification  Requirements:

  • Comp TIA iNet+ or Microsoft MCSE
