Documentation and Training Specialist

Summary of Position:

The Documentation & Training Specialist (DTS) serves the needs of internal and external clients. The DTS drives documentation creation including developing templates, collaborating with business partners, writing and/or editing, and maintaining document management practices. The DTS develops and delivers training materials and modules using instructional design best practices and facilitates training in our Apple Valley office or via webinar. The DTS also conducts ongoing needs analyses and evaluation to ensure the training and documentation deliverables are effective and appropriately prioritized. The DTS will support the administration of a knowledge base and Learning Management System. 

Description of Duties:

  • Support administration  of the knowledge base including intake of document creation requests, document development and updates, related needs analysis
  • Support administration of the Learning Management System in collaboration with other team members
  • Reduce support calls through use of training resources
  • Identify documentation and training support needs and gaps
  • Identify and maintain content standards, templates and style guidelines
  • Develop and deliver training according to best practices in instructional design, development and adult learner engagement
  • Drive and/or design and develop content including technical documentation, manuals, quick reference guides, webinars, short videos, eLearning modules (Captivate, Articulate)
  • Update content on an ongoing basis
  • Foster collaborative relationships with internal and external business partners
  • Write new and update existing client-facing manuals and related documents in support of our assessment business
  • Develop standard templates for the most commonly-used client documents to increase efficiency

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Technical Writing or related field
  • 5-8 years of combined experience in training and documentation
  • Proven success consulting with business partners
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) proficiency
  • Rapid e-learning tools (e.g. Captivate, Articulate) proficiency
  • Understand software-as-a-service solutions and be able to quickly learn, and communicate, technical aspects of complex software solutions
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Time management skills, including managing competing priorities
  • Works independently with direction and support
  • Collaborates with team members
  • Strong customer focus
  • Adaptable to change
  • Possible limited domestic travel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree
  • Experience in the assessment industry
