Senior IT Security Engineer

SUMMARY:  The Senior IT Security Engineer is responsible for the analysis, design, administration, and monitoring of access controls for Questar's network, applications, and data in accordance with industry standards and the organization's information security policies and standards. In addition, the Senior IT Security Engineer is responsible for supporting ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of information security policies, procedures and technical controls.     

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement and manage IT Infrastructure in compliance with IT strategies and roadmaps, as well as provide technical support in an integrated, multi-platform system environment. This includes: system hardware, software, desktop, laptops, networks, voice communications, remote system access, disaster recovery, monitoring, and information technology security.
  • Develop and maintain Questar IT security policies, procedures, and compliance requirements to meet recommended industry standards and general IT security practices.
  • Collaborate with third party vendors and manage delivery of contracted services ensuring compliance with Questar processes and industry standards. Evaluate and implement new products available through 3rd party vendors and resources.
  • Design, deploy, and audit appropriate security solutions and technical controls to meet the core business needs.
  • Perform routine and ad-hoc vulnerability testing and reporting for compliance.
  • Determine data classification needs and required data handling procedures in order to implement data classification standards and practices.
  • Evaluate both industry and client data compliance specifications and provide awareness to the internal business units.
  • Research new and emerging security threats and mitigation strategies.
  • Provide IT Security training and audits in order to meet Questar’s annual IT security training requirements.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline; or equivalent IT security training and/or experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • Certified Information Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), preferred.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8+ years of relevant technology experience in the primary area of information technology security and audits.
  • Strong understanding of networking technologies (including routing, firewalls, and network security technologies).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and administrative activities with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in security technologies, security trends, information security and risk management, access controls, and security architecture and design.
  • Must be proficient in supporting and/or knowledgeable of Microsoft Windows, Linux and network firewalls

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Advanced experience with providing technical documentation/training materials related to IT security policies and procedures.
  • Experience with SIEM tools for network, systems and application security.
  • Proficiency with securing, managing, and controls for corporate data, messaging and Microsoft Office applications and tools.
